CAREERS AT KCRW

Coordinating Producer

KCRW seeks a qualified radio producer to help with our launch of 88.7 FM in Santa Barbara.

This is an exciting position for someone who is a self-starter, committed to the community of Santa Barbara and devoted to high quality programming content. The position is a hybrid. You will be a producer, editor and station liaison. The latter means helping to maintain various editorial and cultural partnerships KCRW is developing in the area.

Producer: The candidate will be able to identify and develop compelling original feature stories highlighting important news and events in and around Santa Barbara. Stories will exhibit strong writing, creative use of audio and timeliness. Additionally, the producer will help coordinate host interviews for our Morning Edition and All Things Considered hosts. Host remotes a plus. The producer position reports to KCRW's Program Director. (30% time)

Editor: You will help monitor MEM and ATC broadcasts for quality of content. This includes fact-checking and air-checking of hosts, listening for the overall sound, and reporting back your evaluations. Oversee coordination with Santa Barbara Independent and other news outlets and cultural/news talent to create more comprehensive and interesting newscasts. Some of this content will hopefully develop into longer stories and even show-length discussions. The editor reports to KCRW's Program Director. (40% time)

Liaison: The KCRW team in Santa Barbara is fairly lean and we need someone who can fulfill a few duties for the station. First will be to oversee volunteers/interns who will work with the station to further their education in radio. Second, foster general communication and coordination with relevant employees at Antioch University, where our studio will be located, and our media partners. An ability to identify issues early to ensure good relationships is vitally important. The liaison reports to relevant counterparts at KCRW, including the General Manager, Volunteer Coordinator and Program Director. (30% time)

To apply, please send resume, short cover letter and audio to jobs@kcrw.org. Please, no phone calls.
