Los Angeles without KCRW?
Host:
This is Anthony Byrnes Opening the Curtain on LA Theater for KCRW.
There's a great line in Hamlet where Shakespeare boils theater down to its essence.
As Hamlet talks to the players he says the purpose of theater is, to hold as 'twere the mirror up to nature: to show virtue her feature, scorn her own image, and the very age and body of the time his form and pressure.
It's great theatrical advice. Show us ourselves in all our beauty and our flaws. Connect us to our time - to what's happening in our world. It's what makes the theater so essential.
It's also what makes KCRW so essential to me.
KCRW helps hold a mirror up to Los Angeles, to our world.
KCRW is connected to what's happening right here, right now - or in Shakespeare's words "the very age and body of the time."
Whether it's Anne Litt turning me on to a new artist. Or the Left, Right and Center crew digging into this week's politics. KCRW helps connect me.
I can't imagine Los Angeles without KCRW. Can you?
If you value KCRW the way I do play your part.
