Los Angeles Furniture: A 'Scout's' View

Last month Otis College of Art & Design released a report on the role of "creativity" in the Southland. Generating billions of dollars and thousands of jobs, that creativity extends beyond the entertainment industry to fashion, toys, product design, architecture and interiors, fine art, and furniture and accessories. You can see it at this month's design fairs, Westweek and CA Boom, as well as in shops and showrooms around town, as we hear from David Keeps, "scout" for the LA Times Home section, and Megan Griffiths of Denizen Design Gallery. Architect Steven Kanner opens our eyes to a new exhibit at the A + D Museum that focuses on "enlightened development," multi-family residential and mixed used projects in LA.  And architectural photographer Tavo Olmos on his favorite building, the Alta Loma home of furniture-maker Sam Maloof.
