CJ Jacobson is the chef at The Yard in Santa Monica. He is pairing pickled bacon with Weiser Farms Melon (the orange variety). He pickles the bacon gently over not too high heat and then grills it to maintain the smoky flavor. 

Maryanne Carpenter of Coastal Organics grows heirloom tomatoes, which she sells at the Santa Monica Farmers' Markets. Her most popular and versatile variety is the Early Girl. She also sells the Costoluto Canestrino variety, brought from Italy by Evan Kleiman.
