In 1999, Rodrigo Garcia made his feature directorial debut with Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her. The film won 'Un Certain Regard' Award at Cannes, and also yielded a partnership with one of the film's stars, Glenn Close. Their latest collaboration is Albert Nobbs, starring and co-written by Close. Nobbs is a story about a woman who lives her life as a man for over 30 years in order to make a living in 19th Century Ireland, gradually losing herself within her male persona. Garcia says he loves stories about women, especially when they push the boundaries and challenge conventional female stereotypes. Elvis talks with Garcia about his passion for storytelling, where it came from, and how he has developed it into a craft all his own.
