Dustin Hoffman: Quartet
Host:
Produced by:
Who is Mike McNabb? "He was doing life for blowing some guy's head off with a shot gun in a cocaine deal that had gone bad," says Dustin Hoffman. He was also Hoffman's 'tour guide' at San Quentin during an undercover visit he arranged in 1978 to collect research for his directorial debut, the film Straight Time. That job never worked out, but 35 years later Hoffman is finally back in the director's chair with Quartet, a film about a group of eccentric septuagenarians who live together in a home for retired musicians. In this touching conversation, Hoffman shares the advice he got from Arthur Miller that he used in directing this film, plus, why talking about the cast of Quartet makes him so emotional.
