    The new film,

Where the Wild Things Are is a beautiful and imaginative adaption by director Spike Jonze of the classic

    children's book

by Maurice Sendek -- and the

    soundtrack

by Karen O & the Kids follows that same inspiration.

Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs collaborates with Deerhunter's Bradford Cox, Yeah Yeah Yeahs Bandmates Nick Zinner and Brian Chase, the Dead Weather's Dean Fertita, a children's choir and many more voices, including dialogue from the film itself. The dreamy and wistful soundtrack percolates with joy and earnest musical interpretation of the film's characters and story, lying somewhere between magic and edgy indie rock.

Where the Wild Things Are OST streams on KCRW's Eclectic24 at 8 PM, Monday, November 2 and will be available on-demand through December 1, 2009.
