It's 2250 hrs. on 10-01-09. I was in the studio all day, working on a talking record edit. After we finished that, I did some voice over work for a Flaming Lips project. I don't know when it's coming out, so I'll let them break the news on their own and when they see fit to tell me what's happening, I will let you know. I must say, it is pretty cool to be on a project with them. My eyes are closing on me and I still have a lot of work to do before I can get the lights out. I am listening to a run-through of this show and I am liking it!

    Fanatics!

X and The Double B were both astonished that I had no Melt-Banana records and told me to get the Scratch Or Stitch album and check it out, I did and a track of from the album is leading off our show. Engineer X made me a DVD-R full of interesting stuff last week and I have had some time to check out some of it and what I heard I liked so much, I had to bring some of it to our show. Someone gave me the Eroc album last year, I think. I only got around to playing it recently and found a place for one of the tracks that I think fits well. Dave Chandler from the very mighty Saint Vitus called me days ago and told me that the band was back together and doing shows. This will be the line-up with Wino on lead vocal. Fucking Wino!!!!! Damn, I want to see one or two of these shows. I was so happy about the news that I had to throw a Vitus track into the mix as well as list the tour dates below:

    Saint Vitus Dates:

    October 2009

    16. Brooklyn NY - Club Europe

    17. Worchester MA - The Palladium Mass. (w/ Type O Negative & The Misfits)

    18. Baltimore MD - The Sonar

    January 2010

    28. Los Angeles CA - The Key Club

    29. San Francisco CA - DNA Lounge

One of the bands that X put on the DVD-R was Älgarnas Trädgård. Some cool Psychedelic music out of Sweden, into the mix it went. Also, this really cool alt. version of Ghost Rider by Suicide. As far as I know, the only way to get this version of the song is on the Punk Legends: The American Roots CD. Ian turned me onto this one a few years ago.

I got a letter from Jazz drummer extraordinaire Paul Murphy a couple of days ago. He told me that the Paul Murphy / Larry Willis album Foundations is now on i-tunes. As you know, we are very large fans of those two and so, another track from the album found its way into the mix.

As you can see, the music is all over the place, just the way we Fanatics like it. A lot of bands making their first showing in this show. I hope you like the show. I am about three songs or so into next week's show. Thanks to Fanatic Dick for the heads up on the Raks Raks Raks CD. http://www.soundflat.de/shop/shop.cfm?artnr=14141, very interesting. Tonight's live version of Maggot Brain comes from Chris Haskett's very cool Funk singles collection.

I'll be in DC on Sunday before I have to head into the wilds of Virginia to sign books at MusicToday. My new book is off the truck and in the warehouse. I will sign and number the first print run on Tuesday. It will be a long day but I will have some tunes with me, so it will be a good time.

So many cool shows have come through town and I missed them all. My days have been long and they go into the night and I can't do it all, I'm afraid.

Damn, I have to get up early tomorrow so I better sign off here and send this in to our site and The K.

Make sure to crank the volume when the live version of Maggot Brain plays and STAY FANATIC!!!
