Joe Zawinul is a gifted and unusual jazz keyboardist and one of the creators of jazz-rock fusion. Zawinul talks to Tom Schnabel about being a concert pianist in his native Austria, coming to Juillard, leaving to play with Dinah Washington, Cannonball Adderley, and forming Weather Report with Wayne Shorter. Zawinul was also a major influence on Miles Davis.
