FROM THIS EPISODE

Kim and John talk about the big shake-up at Focus Features-- the art house division of Universal. Focus has been known as a haven for filmmakers but now it may get a different mandate as it lets go of it's long time head James Schamus. Schamus co-founded Focus and is a successful screenwriter and producer himself whose worked closely with Ang Lee for years. Now he's being replaced by Peter Shlessel, the co-founder of Film District. Shlessel is well-regarded but has co-produced and released genre films-- profitable but not awards' bait.
