FROM THIS EPISODE

Man of Steel is poised to open big with some predicting it could make upwards of $100 million over the weekend in the U.S. alone. But given that the film cost something around $250 million to make an interview earlier this week at USC where Spielberg criticized the movie business for making these outsized films that, if they fail, could take down a studio or two in its wake. He imagines a future where there will be tiered premium pricing with audiences paying $25/ticket for an Iron Man movie but $7 for a film like his Lincoln.

Kim Masters is joined by Matthew Garrahan of the Financial Times.
