A recent study showed that Orange County now has the largest Asian-American community of any county in the United States after Los Angeles and Santa Clara counties. Long a haven for Vietnamese and Korean immigrants, OC has seen a sharp increase in other groups, from Taiwanese to Indians to Filipinos and even Bangladeshis. And the tiny city of La Palma—which, a couple of years ago, elected the first ever Thai-American mayor in American history—has become the county's first Asian-American majority town. What does the increase in Asians mean for OC, culturally and politically?
