Last week, longtime Orange County Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez announced she was running for the California Senate seat being vacated by Barbara Boxer. It was a strange move, given Sanchez has not faced a serious challenger for her office since first winning in 1996, and that her main opponent, California Attorney General Kamala Harris, already has a commanding lead.
