- Newsmaker: Blair Presents More Evidence on bin Laden - British Prime Minister Tony Blair promised new evidence of Osama bin Laden's responsibility for the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington. Today, his office released a new dossier and he made a speech. Guardian's Michael White reports that though there's little new evidence, Blair indicated strong support for the US war effort.
- Reporter's Notebook: Fewer Americans Using Food Stamps, Number of Hungry Growing - Hunger, a growing problem in the world's most prosperous country, started to get worse long before the current recession. Douglas O'Brien, of America's Second Harvest, says the number of hungry has far outpaced this country's population growth. He's troubled that the government has relinquishing responsibility for feeding them to private charities.
