FROM THIS EPISODE

Washington is buzzing over White House involvement in outing a covert agent of the CIA, legal problems for Republican leaders, and the flap over Harriett Miers' nomination to the US Supreme Court. Appearing today with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, President Bush dismissed recent Republican problems as "background noise." But on Capitol Hill, the noise about Miers is almost deafening. Senators of both parties agree her written answers to questions are "inadequate." Some un-named Democrat called them "insulting." Why are Bush's supporters being so harsh when he's in trouble on so many other issues? Will liberals find common ground with conservatives in opposing Miers' nomination? How much does Roe versus Wade have to do with it?
