FROM THIS EPISODE

More than $13 million has been spent by two Democratic congressmen in the San Fernando Valley, forced by reapportionment to run against each other in next week's election. Brad Sherman and Howard Berman are as different as their names sound the same, and their campaign's been as nasty as it has been expensive. Sherman says Berman has spent taxpayer money on foreign junkets. Berman called Sherman either a "liar or delusional." At that, they almost got into a fight. They both join us tonight. On our rebroadcast of today's To the Point, the gathering storm and the campaign for the White House.

Image-for-WWLA.jpgAfter briefing reporters on efforts to prepare an upcoming disaster, President Obama answered just one question today at the White House: what about the ongoing campaign for the White House? As Hurricane Sandy makes landfall, and with only a week left to go until the election, we look at what days of devastation could mean for early voting and the crucial "ground games" of the presidential campaigns.

Main Topic Berman and Sherman Together Again on 'WWLA' 24 MIN, 58 SEC

One of this year's nastiest and most expensive campaigns for Congress is taking place in the West San Fernando Valley. Veteran Democrats Howard Berman and Brad Sherman have been forced to compete for the newly drawn 30th District. They've spent more than $10 million, exchanged insults, and, in a now-infamous televised moment, almost come almost to blows. As Berman and Sherman struggle down to the wire, Eric Bauman, head of the LA County Democratic Party, offers a description. "Sherman is visible and present in the district and totally keyed in on the local concerns and issues." He describes Berman as being "on the national and international stage and…a leader in Washington and on foreign affairs."

Howard Berman, Democratic Congressman (@HowardBerman)
