California is clearly not putting on its best face when it comes to the state's border crossings. From Oregon and Nevada to Arizona and Mexico, the frontiers are unvaryingly more appealing on the other side. Zócalo Public Square columnist Joe Matthews says our scruffy borders reflect poorly on us as a state. He'd like us to dust off the porch and lay out a new welcome mat.
