The much-ballyhooed Metro Expo Line is the first train to link and downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica in six decades. That's a nice thing. But Zócalo Public Square columnist Joe Mathews says the notion that it will spur a lot of freeway commuters to ditch their cars is fantasy – mostly because the trip takes too dang long. He does have a few ideas, however, about how Metro could speed things up.
