Obama Names Sonia Sotomayor to Supreme Court

President Obama this morning named Sonia Sotomayor to fill the seat of retiring Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court. If confirmed, 54-year-old Sotomayor would bring nearly 17 years of experience on the federal bench and a history of bipartisan appeal to the high court. The daughter of Puerto Rican-born parents would be the first Latina to sit on the Court. KCRW presents a one-hour National Public Radio special, hosted by Neal Conan, which will contain live coverage of the President's announcement. Guests include NPR Senior Washington Editor Ron Elving, NPR Legal Affairs Correspondent Nina Totenberg, NPR Political Correspondent Mara Liasson, and NPR Justice Correspondent Ari Shapiro. (Special broadcast airs 4-5pm.)
