In California's statewide election, Proposition 8 appears to have been decided. Governor Schwarzenegger says Prop 11 passed, too, but others insist it's still too close to call. We review the election results today and talk with LA County's newest elected supervisor. Also, there were long lines and mechanical breakdowns all over the country. Why was voting in the biggest state in the union virtually problem-free?

Proposition 8 appears to have passed, but same-sex marriage is already making its way back to the courts. Governor Schwarzenegger says Prop 11 passed, too, but others insist it's still too close to call. Statewide bond issues passed, too, but it may be a long time before anyone sees any money. On the local ballots, bond measures also did fine, despite economic troubles for city and county governments. We review the election results and talk with Los Angeles County's newest elected supervisor. Former Police Chief Bernard Parks is still on the LA City Council, but State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas has a new job.

Relatively Smooth Sailing at Los Angeles Polls ()
In other parts of the country, there was trouble with long lines caused by voting machines and new rules for determining voter ID. Kim Alexander is President of the California Voter Foundation which monitors the election process in the Golden State.
