Worker Firings Inflame Pomona College Campus The quiet campus of Pomona College in Claremont is embroiled in an angry dispute over the firing of kitchen workers found to lack proof of legal documentation. The New York Times has reported that some current students and some alumni of Pomona College are outraged over the firing of 17 workers, who were unable to produce proof that they were in the country legally. Some had been at the college for decades in the only jobs they'd ever had since immigrating to this country. Pomona is a liberal institution, and the administration is being accused of violating its ideals by starting an investigation because the workers were trying to form a union.
