Anayansi Diaz-Cortes

Anayansi Diaz-Cortes is an independent producer and reporter for public radio. Her documentaries have been featured on NPR's All Things Considered, WBEZ's This American Life and KCRW's Sonic Trace and UnFictional. Her career in radio began at Radio Diaries, a regular feature of NPR's All Things Considered.

Her work has been honored by the Overseas Press Club, the Edward R. Murrow Award and the Third Coast/Richard H. Driehaus Award. She's worked with young women around the world to document their daily lives for an hour-long radio series, Countries in Transition, Women in Transition.

Before working at Radio Diaries, Diaz-Cortes was the Programs and Content Associate at Arts Engine where she curated and produced content for MediaRights.org, co-produced the year-long Media That Matters Film Festival and organized workshops, panels and conferences around social issue media, independent film, community impact and grass-roots distribution.

Diaz-Cortes has a B.A. in International Affairs and Latin American Studies from Universidad Internacional de Mexico in Mexico City, and a M.A. in Latin American Studies from New York University.
