Tornado Devastates Joplin, Missouri People took refuge in bathrooms, hallways or wherever they could, including in a convenience store freezer as the City of Joplin, Missouri was devastated by a tornado with winds up to 165mph. At least 90 people are dead, and bad weather is making the search for survivors a difficult and dangerous enterprise. Missy Shelton, news director at public radio station KSMU in Springfield, toured Joplin this morning.
