Dieter Rams

architect and designer

German industrial designer who designed hundreds of electronic appliances for Braun A.G.; designer of the 606 Universal Shelving System for Vitsœ. In 1955, he was recruited to Braun as an architect and an interior designer and became Chief Design Officer in 1961, staying there until 1995. He is considered to be one of the most influential industrial designers of the 20th century and currently has a retrospective of his work on tour around the world.
