Monica Goodling Testifies A former top aide to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales testified before a House committee today under a grant of immunity. Monica Goodling conceded that she might have allowed politics to play too much of a role in the hiring of career lawyers. Despite her title as White House liaison, Goodling denied the claim that she can resolve the issue of whether eight US Attorneys were fired to help Republicans by hurting Democrats.
Human Rights in the era of Donald Trump President Trump’s UN Ambassador, Nikki Haley, said today the US might pull out of the United Nations’ Human Rights Council. Serious violators of human rights are members of the Council itself–and a US resignation could make things worse.
