Written by

Where did you grow up and do you have any siblings?
~ Yes, I have 2 sisters and come from a small city that no longer exists and that usually no one has heard of – Alta Loma, Ca.

What is your current occupation?
~My business is Happiness, Skin and happy skin. I am a make up artist and founder of a prestige beauty brand.

What is your fantasy occupation?
~ In a perfect world I would travel around following the adventures and spreading the joy of Huell Howser. Perhaps in an RV.

When did you first discover KCRW?
~ Many years ago I stumbled across afternoon pitching during the Pledge Drive. I was so fascinated and entertained that I kept listening 🙂 I’ve never heard that from anyone else.

How did you find your way to our station for volunteering?
~ After a few pledge drives I began formally volunteering and was drawn into Events… the rest has been a fantastic blur.

What’s your current volunteer position and how long have you been at it?
~Currently I am a Production Assistant for DJ Garth Trinidad and just celebrated 5 years as Copilot Swain.

Favorite volunteer moment?
~ There have been far too many entertaining and laughable moments but my favorite would be meeting Huell Howser when he came to the station for his Guest DJ Project 🙂 and 2 years later being assigned as his escort for our Good Food Pie Contest.

If you could get on the mic and say one sentence on the air, what would it be?
~ The thought of my voice on air makes me laugh so most likely “Is this thing on” with my infectious laughter.

What song have you hit repeat on lately?
~A gem that I got from DJ Travis Holcombe called Club Going Up by ILoveMakonnen

Favorite book, movie?
~ My favorite movie is still the Princess Bride but I’ve decided to read the book.

Favorite thing to do outside the station?
~ I manage an Instagram and Facebook page called #WhereWouldHuellGo and spend my free time dragging friends to fun and interesting #HuellStops all over California.

What does KCRW mean to you?
~ Quality of life. Arts, Music, Community… KCRW adds culture and substance to my world and I feel like I’ve grown into a person that I really like because of the the experiences I’ve had here.

Shawniece recently celebrated 5 years in studio with Garth Trinidad. What an amazing accomplishment! When you see her around the station or town, (and you will), give her kudos and share a happy moment!
