A precious spice faces an uncertain future

Kashmir, a conflict-ridden region on both sides of the India-Pakistan border, is home to the most coveted and expensive spice: Kashmiri saffron. Sharanya Deepak  recently reported for Eater  on the precarious future of saffron in an area where agriculture accounts for nearly 80 percent of the local economy.
