Warner Bros. hopes to end slump with 'Suicide Squad'

There's been a ton of noise leading up to the release of Suicide Squad, a Warner Bros movie that hails from the DC Comics universe. It's set to make $140 million opening weekend alone, but the film was so expensive to make, the studio needs the movie to keep going strong beyond just that first weekend. So far, reviews of Suicide Squad have been bad, mirroring a situation Warners saw earlier this year with Batman v Superman. Part of the problem is timing -- studios have dated superhero movies several years into the future and get locked into a release date. Then production has to be rushed to meet the deadline, it ends up becoming a movie made by committee, and the final product may be less than stellar. We'll see what the fans think after this weekend.
