OC GOP to Angry White Male Candidates: Adios!

Hosted by

For years, the Republican Party of Orange County was stereotyped as the last domain of angry, wealthy white males, a stereotype buttressed by its candidates. But as the June California primary approaches, the OC GOP seems like a multiculturalism college project run amok. Among the candidates running for OC supervisor, state assembly, state senate and even governor are Korean and Asian women, a Latina, and and Latino. OC GOP leaders have been surprisingly frank in proclaiming they need to do a better effort in outreach to ethnic groups, especially in a county where whites have totaled less than 50 percent of the total population for over a decade now. Is the OC GOP's efforts pandering at its worst or smart politics that secures its future?
