When Nancy Lopez was born, Ronald Reagan was in office. Her father had just arrived to Los Angeles and named Nancy after the First Lady. Years later, in 1986, Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act also known as the "Reagan-Amnesty". This law created a pathway to citizenship for 3 million undocumented immigrants. Nancy's father was one of them. She reflects on the impact that Ronald Reagan had on her and on her family history.

Nancy Lopez is a producer for Snap Judgment and a contributor to the Spanish-language radio program Radio Ambulante. Nov. 2nd, she will be part of Radio Ambulante's new live event in San Francisco: OUTSIDERS. Sonic Trace will be presenting a story too. Buy your tickets here before they sell out.
