Bag Raiders – “Waterfalls” Video Premiere

Written by

After the great success from their last single, “Vapour Trails,” the Australia-bred, LA-based electronic duo of Chris Stracey & Jack Glass, better known as Bag Raiders, have put together a new video for their latest bubbly track, “Waterfall,” which we are proud to be premiering. Taking a break from an intense schedule of EP releases this year, they and director Gee.G enlisted the assistance of Barcelona-based artist Alex Coll to give his distinctive touch to the colorful video, which is clearly influenced by a collage style and personally reminds me of a modern version of Terry Gilliam’s work.

In the band’s own words: “For the ‘Waterfalls’ video, we wanted something that was a little abstract and visually interesting and exciting. We’ve always loved the paintings of Rene Magritte, and how they can really transport you someplace else with their landscapes and mysterious characters…We felt [Coll’s] work could really capture this feeling, which we had also tried to create with the song.”

Between the birds, fish, butterflies, and old-school fashion models flitting throughout, I think they got what they were looking for.

Bag Raiders will be performing at the Echo, along with Kauf, on Tuesday, Sept. 8
