Show #130: Rhythm Planet's Halloween Monster Mash Up

Written by

blog-spacerIt’s time again for Rhythm Planet to liven up your Halloween. No cookie-cutter stuff, though — no Bobby Boris Pickett “Monster Mash,” “Ghostbusters,” Elvira’s faves or even Screamin’ Jay Hawkins!  This playlist is different and I hope more interesting!

We’ll hear from Princess Noire — Nina Simone — plus some gothic grooves from Dead Can Dance and the U.K. outfit GOL (from a cd I produced), some ghoulish cemetery music from Colombia’s Jolly Ambulances (who entertain the tenants underground), British Calypsonian Lord Kitchener, and Father John Misty.

Vampires and Scary Monsters are here too, courtesy of David Bowie, Femi Kuti and Rob Garza. I had to throw in Sinatra’s “Witchcraft” too.  We wrap the coffin up with some classic Cab Calloway and an oldie from Tom Waits.

I invite you to make this your Halloween soundtrack for Saturday night. Hopefully all you ghosts and goblins will enjoy it!
