It’s summer and what better way to celebrate than making your own Today’s Top Tune playlist? We start the week with a dreamy new song from Chromatics. Cue up a new track by Johnny Marr. Get acquainted with The Midnight Hour, a new project from Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest and Adrian Younge. Bob Moses returns with new music and a tour stop at The Hollywood Palladium. And we cap off the week with our new Friday feature – an exclusive live version of a song recorded on MBE – with Hollie Cook, who sheds light on her song “Together.”

Monday, June 18 Chromatics “Black Walls”

Chromatics started out as a noise-laden outfit founded by Adam Miller in 2001 in Seattle. Eventually Miller forged a new path into an electronic sound and a full band line up. Chromatics don’t release an abundant amount of music so when we get our hands on new work, we love to share. Take away “Black Walls” today!

Tuesday, June 19 Johnny Marr “Hi Hello”

Johnny Marr, co-founding member of The Smiths, says: “This is the most complete thing I’ve ever done. There are no songs I’m not sure about. And for me as a listener, it’s made up of entirely the music I like, and have liked.” Can’t beat that recommendation, give a listen to “Hi Hello” and hear for yourself!

Wednesday, June 20 The Midnight Hour “So Amazing” featuring Luther Vandross

Two of Hip-Hop’s most skilled composers Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest and Adrian Younge have partnered as The Midnight Hour. Together, they deliver an exquisite debut album showcasing their musical chops. Today’s Top Tune is very proud to offer a re-imagining of Luther Vandross’ 1986 classic “So Amazing.”

Thursday, June 21 Bob Moses “Heaven Only Knows”

Grammy-award winning duo Bob Moses have released their first new music since their head-spinning debut album. Appealing to rock and dance music fans alike, “Heaven Only Knows’ mixes classic songwriting with slinky guitar work and an EDM beat.

Friday, June 22 Hollie Cook Live On MBE “Together”

As the daughter of Sex Pistols’ drummer Paul Cook, Hollie Cook has music in her blood. A recent guest on Morning Becomes Eclectic, we share a live exclusive version of “Together” with insight from Hollie as to how the song came about.
