Fanatics!!

These notes were a little late getting to you and for that I am sorry. I have been a little under the weight of the schedule here and things got a bit ahead of me. Nonetheless, I think we have a show that will be to your liking. I hope so. Last few days have been a blur of obligation and deadlines. I hope to catch up on things by Sunday night. Last night, I was at the House Of Blues for the Ozzy Osbourne tribute. The Osbournes asked me to go onstage and talk about Ozzy. It was me, Tommy Lee, Slash, Billy Bob Thornton and others. It was good to see Ozzy and Sharon again. Mike Borden from Faith No More and Ozzy's band was there and I talked to him for awhile, he's a good guy and says the Faith tour is going really well. One of the top moments of the night was talking to Sabbath drummer Bill Ward. It's been awhile since I've seen him. Not only is he my favorite Rock drummer, he's a very cool guy as well.

I wanted to mention a documentary I just saw that was very well done and interesting. It's called Crude. It's about Texaco and the country of Ecuador. Here's an article about it.

LA area Fanatics should note that it's playing at the Nuart from the 18th to the 24th. If you go to the site and hit “now playing” you can see all the places it's playing. I will be watching this one again soon. Very worthwhile in my opinion. This was put together by Joe Berlinger who also did Some Kind Of Monster and of course, Paradise Lost, 1 &2. Check it out if you can.

Matthew Payne comes through with his first CD! Over the years, Matt has sent me CD-R copies of his music but now he has a real record out, congrats, Matt!

Vieux Farka Toure live in LA at the Echoplex

Tonight's show is a solid mix, nothing fancy or concept driven, just a good mix tape to hang out with. Well, there is a little surf concept set at the end for a surfer girl I know who has a birthday coming up but past that, it's a good Saturday night mix to keep you out of trouble. I have played through it a couple of times and think you will dig it. I don't think there's anything here that you will find all that unfamiliar, perhaps the Nightstalker track, it's a great one. Next week, more good music. You know how we do it, we STAY FANATIC!!!
