“Hum,” a nearly 10-year-old track from UK sound experimenters Adult Jazz, has a knack for finding us in moments of renewal and reflection. It’s a fitting start for a particularly contemplative program. Silas Short covers Leo Nocentelli for the lovingly arranged new Light in the Attic & Friends compilation, we dip into a 2022 release from Last Poets founding member Abiodun Oyewole, and number 14 on KCRW’s list of the 23 Best Albums of 2023 rounds out the whole experience quite nicely.
