Eliades Ochoa

Cuban singer/tres virtuoso Eliades Ochoa, of Cuarteto Patria and satellite member of Buena Vista Social Club, is Tom's guest. Although he has been an exponent of traditional Cuban music for years, most American-s first exposure to sonero Eliades Ochoa came via the now classic -Buena Vista Social Club-. In fact, it is Ochoa-s earthy voice you hear on the album-s opening track -Chan Chan-. The surprise success of -Buena Vista- has also raised the profile of Ochoa and the sixty-one year old ensemble Quarteto Patria. The classic Son and Bolero ensemble he has led since 1978. They will perform songs from their latest release -Tributo Al Quarteto Patria- (Higher Octave).
