Herbie Hancock

He's a giant in modern music, a jazz titan who’s nevertheless managed to achieve popular success as well. Lionized by musicians from both pop and jazz, by other giants like Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock achieved fame in the 60's as Miles Davis’ pianist, in the 70's with the classic Head Hunters record, and in the 80's with Rockit, work with African musicians like Manu Dibango, Foday Musa Suso and Cuban percussionist Daniel Ponce. He also recently did the Joni album, a tribute to Joni Mitchell, honoring her songs and musical legacy. Hard to believe, this is his first visit to KCRW. He joins Tom at 1pm to talk about his latest endeavor, The Imagine Project.
