The Problem with "Oriental" Ramen

Hosted by

Lucas Peterson is a food writer based in Los Angeles. In an article for Lucky Peach.com he challenges Nissan Foods for using the word "Oriental" to describe their ramen.

We also discuss the controversy that ensued when Peterson wrote about an elote (corn) vendor in Lincoln Heights for Eater.com. Some food writers accused him of "Columbusing" and bringing unwanted attention to a beloved, but illegal, vendor in East LA.
