After the premiere last weekend, word on the street is that Rogue One will scratch the Star Wars itch for fans looking for a hit this year. Even though the film exists outside of the other films in the franchise and has a different, lesser-known cast, all signs point to a smashingly successful opening weekend for Rogue One. The production had its troubles along the way. Tony Gilroy, a screenwriter and a director in his own right, was called in for rewrites, but the film holds together well -- which is a tribute to Lusasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. And in addition to Rogue One, Disney also has box offices successes Dr. Strange and Moana out at the moment.
