Surprising news in Hollywood today. Jim Gianopolous is out as the top film executive at Fox and Stacey Snider will be taking over the position next year. Many industry insiders are confused at the move because Gianopolous was running a successful film studio with hits like The Martian, Gone Girl and Deadpool. Stacey Snider had previously been at DreamWorks before moving to Fox, where her role had remained largely undefined, until now. The move shows that Fox is still a product of the Murdoch family, and many believe that Snider's elevation comes at the insistence of the Murdochs, who have expressed confidence in Snider.
