A High-Speed Railroad Runs Through It

Hosted by

With or without overwhelming public approval, construction is getting underway for a $68 billion high speed rail system, that – at its completion – will move Californians between Southland and Bay in half the time or less. And while there’s lots to say about the system, about cost overruns and litigation, today we’re gonna stick with one small part of it: the routing of the line between the Palmdale and Burbank. The High-Speed Rail Authority already had its own selected path from the high desert to San Fernando Valley. But now there’s word that an alternate route being pushed by an LA County Supervisor is gaining some steam. KCRW's Steve Chiotakis speaks with Kevin Roderick, editor of LA Observed.
