Anaheim Ducks Make a Move for the Great Park

Hosted by

For years, Orange County's Great Park has served as a lightning rod for controversy over allegations of corruption, inefficiency, and government pork. Now, an ambitious ice rink project proposed by the Anaheim Ducks might bring some of the park's first permanent tenants. The Irvine City Council approved a plan last month by the team's operating company to build a complex that would house three NHL-sized rinks, an Olympic-sized one, dressing rooms, and other facilities. Local amateur hockey leagues and the team say this would alleviate overcrowded conditions at OC's other rinks. A nonprofit would run the facility, then turn it over to Irvine after 50 years. But does this also make the Ducks moving to Anaheim a possibility?
