How Oakland has changed since Rafael Casal began writing 'Blindspotting'

Over the weekend, a white man stabbed a young black woman to death after exiting a BART train. It’s the third violent killing on BART in the last week. It’s all happening as Rafael Casal is promoting his new film “Blindspotting,” which is set in Oakland, and explores race, police violence, and gentrification. Casal began writing the film 10 years ago after the shooting of Oscar Grant.
