How CAA changed what it means to be an agent


Today’s talent agents are sophisticated business people in expensive suits who drive expensive cars and CAA is largely the reason why. The Creative Artists Agency changed what it meant to be an agent – and the entire entertainment business. And though the industry has continued to evolve since CAA was the most powerful agency in Hollywood, people still refer to its Century City headquarters as “The Death Star.” Journalist James Andrew Miller has looked into the history of the Hollywood super agency and the result is his new book: “Powerhouse: The Untold Story of Hollywood's Creative Artists Agency.”
