If you were a child in the 1970’s, you might remember the TV special Free To Be... You and Me that aired 40 years ago this month. The show was one part of a multi-media project that also included a record and a book. Free To Be was the brainchild of actress Marlo Thomas, and its goal was to encourage kids to defy gender stereotypes, which was fairly radical for 1972.
