Sunday night’s debate was not so heavy on policy, but the situation in Syria did get attention from both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The civil war in that country is more than five years old and shows no sign of ending. Nearly half a million Syrians have died, and the largest city in the country, Aleppo, is under siege by government forces.
