Protests Gather at LA Police Commission Hearing On Redel Jones

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside a Los Angeles Police Commission meeting Tuesday after the commission ruled that the killing of a black woman named Redel Jones did not violate the department’s deadly force policy. Jones was shot by an officer in an alley in Baldwin Hills after she reportedly robbed a South LA pharmacy. The official police report said she was armed with a knife and was moving toward police when the officer opened fire. An eyewitness disputes that and says Jones was running away from the police. Jones’ death has became a symbol of excessive police force for the Black Lives Matter movement here in LA.
