Filmmaker Nate Parker faces new scrutiny over 1999 rape case

The low-budget film “The Birth of a Nation,” about the Nat Turner slave rebellion, got an epic reception at Sundance earlier this year. An all out bidding war broke the record for the biggest deal in the festival’s history. But the film’s star, writer, and first-time director, Nate Parker, is now getting a lot of unwanted attention. A 1999 rape case against Parker has resurfaced.
