The down-ticket Trump effect

Arizona Senator John McCain has managed to hold his Senate seat for 30 years, but he is in a tough fight for re-election. McCain will face-off in a primary Tuesday against Kelli Ward, a conservative former state senator. Polls show McCain likely winning that race, but then he’ll face the Democratic challenger, Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, in November. McCain’s not the only shoo-in Republican who might be sweating a little more than usual this election season. Even the wealthiest man in Congress, California Rep. Darrell Issa, is campaigning hard for his ninth term. The string that ties it all together is the guy at the top of the ticket, Donald Trump.
