For her new film What Happened, Miss Simone? Director Liz Garbus scoured the globe for footage of famed musician and activist Nina Simone. Finding and licensing the material could have taken years, but Garbus had a deep-pocketed backer that helped speed the process along. She tells us how she came to make the first original documentary for Netflix and how she kept the "teeth" in Nina Simone's story.
